Senior Pic Time

This beautiful girl will be walking across the stage in May.  She is an absolute amazing person!  She is very smart and hardworking, and she is gifted in so many ways.  I love senior pictures.  There is a lined that is crossed when a person graduates high school.  That line is like the goodbye to childhood and the hello to adulthood.  What a special blessing it is to be able to capture the moment before a child crosses that line!  I think senior pictures are very important!

Isn't she wonderful?  These pictures were taken at a State Park here in Arkansas.  It was her desire to take pictures here, and I tell you I could not have picked a more perfect place!  Fall is coming and everything looked perfect for her pictures... including her!

We had a blast, and she was very willing to climb up and down rocks and docks.  Life is good when you have a very trusting subject!

Half-way through the shoot, I noticed that this person was already looking more and more like an adult!  What an amazing story she has and will have one day!

Sweet Caroline

There is something so special about a new life.  It is so cool when asked to be the photographer for a newborn because before the little new person has even spent more than a week or two on earth, I get to capture their beauty and innocence.
This is baby Caroline.  She was a champ during her session.  In these pictures, she is only two days old!  That is right!  I am starting to fall more and more in love with window lightening.  Natural lightening is so flattering!
Okay, so if you really look at any of my work, it is easy to see that I am in love with black and white photos!  They just make life better.  I love the moments caputred.  Like in this wonderful photo!  I love the way you can fall in love with the expression on her face.  I believe color would have distracted from the main point in this photo!

It is so fun when mom and dad get involved!  I adore this photo because of mom's hands.  Okay, so maybe I am biased.  This is my niece.  Isn't she just the cutest thing!

Derrick and Sarah

Okay, so I admit it... I am a little obsessive about black and white photos.  I adore color, and for most "planned" shots that is what I aim for.  However, I love those shots when nobody is really caring that there is a photographer in the area more than anything, and honestly, most of those times those shots look better in black and white.  Why is that?  Because there is something about a black and white photo that tells a story.  (It also helps cover lightening issues for those fellow photographers out there).
When I think about stories I can think of no story more amazing than this lady and her new husband.  They are people who are in love with the Lord.  They strive to bring Him glory each day and in everything they do.  I was actually in this wedding (she is one of my most cherished friends), but it was good to have my camera along, and Michael got to play around as well.
Sarah and I met a few years back at a summer camp we were both working.  We became friends, and I learned so much about the power of the Holy Spirit by watching her relationship with Christ.  When Michael and I got married, I was more than thrilled that she agreed to be a bridesmaid, and I am so blessed to say that I had the honor of her standing next to me.  Not too long after we parted ways, Sarah took a leap of faith moving from her home of seven years in Louisiana to Nashville.  There she began working on a Master's program.  On a mission trip, she met Derrick.  They hit it off big time... I mean what is not to love about her, and he is pretty amazing!  Not too long after they began dating, they were engaged, and now they are married.

Her wedding was perfect in every way!  It was such a beautiful event, and Michael and I felt so welcomed and loved by all of her friends.  The first time Michael met Derrick they sat on the porch and talked for quite awhile.  There were welcome bags for out of town guests with some Louisiana favorites, and you can tell that this couple did everything they could to make the night enjoyable for everyone.  I was most touched by how welcomed we were into her group of friends (whom I have never met).  They were so open and loving to us.  I adored each one of them, and it was obvious to tell that each one of them adored Sarah and was doing their best to try and take care of her.  She was radiant.

Before I end this story, I must give a quick shout out to this beautiful woman of God.  She was Sarah's Maid of Honor, and she is definitely worth honor.  I think about Proverbs 31 everytime I think about this wonderful woman.  She took so much time and patience to make sure that everything was perfect.  She is a delight, and she was so amazingly sweet to me.  She was a blessing at a much needed time!

City of Hope Gala

City of Hope Outreach is a ministry focusing on those that may have been forgotten within the limits of Conway, Arkansas.  The people who work for this ministry reach out to those who are looked down upon either because of their culture, race, and economic status.  They are dedicated to serving the Lord's people by providing a chance at community growth within the communities that are struggling to stay alive.  Instead of crime, the promote unity.  Instead of always accepting handouts, they promote independence.  They teach the gospel of the Lord and present it as a message to all people.  Not just the rich or well off.  I am deeply touched by the desire of this ministry.  My husband and I are moved by the reality of human trafficking, and what this organization is doing is prevention of not only human trafficking but also drug trafficking and repeat offenders.  They are doing a great work in the city of Conway.

Ministry comes at a price both emotionally, physically, and financially.  Thankfully, City of Hope outreach has found a way to raise funds by providing people with a good time.  At the City of Hope Gala, people were allowed to put on their best dress and enjoy good conversation, good food, and an overall good time.  I was asked to shoot this gala, and I am blessed to say that I got to attend.  After food and conversation, organizer Phil Fletcher spoke about the work that City of Hope is doing.  Following him, there was an art auction for works created during the gala by local artist.  It was an amazing night of community growth.

Kinder Wedding: August 21, 2012

I love weddings!  There is just something so amazing about getting to watch two people become one.  Every time I go to a wedding, I think I may fall more in love with my own husband.  I feel so blessed that people invite me into their special day.  Dale and Mary are a very special couple.  He is a Navy man, and she is delighted to take on the adventure of being a Navy man's wife.
These two knew they wanted to be married, but the product of Navy life is never an easy one.  They planned on a date, but the Navy life held Dale up from coming home.  Again they planned on a date, and yet again Dale was held.  Most people would probably get very frustrated, but by the time their wedding was for sure going to happen, they were so blessed to be getting married there was no frustration in sight!  They seemed just excited about being together!  What a special blessing to witness this union.

My Wonderful and Beautiful Family: Sophia turned 1

I am sure that my nieces are already sick of my camera.  They see it come out all the time, and I am sure their first instinct is to duck and cover, but I just can't help myself!  They are beautiful, inside and out, and each one has their own distinct personality.  I adore watching them, and I can't wait until the fourth arrives (another girl).  The youngest, is so curious and lovey.  She will just lay her head down in your lap and she watches her older sisters all the time.  She gets frustrated if they leave her behind because she wants to know what is going on with everything.  She has the best facial expressions, and she makes my heart just swell with love.  I was there when this little one was born, and I have gotten to see her grow.  She is special to my heart, and I adore her.  She is not just a little over one.  She is already walking very well, and she is already saying a few words.  She knows the word no and yes, and she loves to eat!

The middle child is a wonderful mess.  She is also very sweet, but she has a little rebellious spirit in her heart.  She is very stubborn and likes to have things her way.  It makes me giggle because I know that these things now may be hard, but when this child is older she is going to do amazing things for the Lord!  She will be strong in the faith.  She loves her Uncle Michael.  It is so funny.  For awhile, every time he would come around she would say, "I don't like you."  However, I don't think she knew what that meant because if he was present, nobody else mattered.
The oldest is not pictured because she got sick during the birthday party and had to be rushed to the doctor.  She is precious.  She is a great big sister and really does care for her siblings and for everyone around her.  Not only does she care, but she is so smart!  She loves to learn, and she is constantly asking questions and trying to find out more information.  I am blessed to call her my girl.  At bedtime, if I am at the house, my favorite thing to do is curl up beside her and just chit chat about her day.  She tells me about what her and her mom did and about what she loved most about the day and the worst part of the day.  We pray together, and we even get to sing together.  She is wonderful.

The Wonderful and Beautiful P Family

This family has been such a blessing to me through the years of my life, especially my early years as a believer.  I have seen this family grown, as they have seen me grow.  Their youngest child was just a baby when I first met them, and now she is such a beautiful kid turning into a young woman (one of those six going on 18 types).  They are precious.  They have two wonderful adopted children that have fit in with the family so well that we do not even really think of them as adopted any longer.  This whole family is so special, and I have seen God bless them beyond belief in the last years.

This photo shoot was way too fun.  After speaking with the mother for an hour or so about different diet things, I got to go outside with the kiddos and just have fun.  Photo shoots should be fun right?  They should not include painful jumping around trying to get the kids to smile at a yellow duck (no offense meant, my husband has done lots of jumping behind my back while trying to take pictures).  However, shoots take time and creativity, and these kids had plenty of both.  They were not in a hurry, and they were leading the show by the end of the shoot.  They told me all the places they wanted their photos done, and all the props they wanted.  They pretty much knew what they wanted, and I just went with what pleased them.  It turned out great!  So much fun, great family, and in the end great pictures.
